The Early Development Instrument (EDI) is a teacher-completed instrument that measures children's ability to meet age-appropriate developmental expectations at school entry on five domains:
  1. Physical health and well-being;
  2. Social knowledge and competence;
  3. Emotional maturity;
  4. Language and cognitive development; and
  5. General knowledge and communication skills
Children who score below the 10th percentile in one or more EDI domains are considered to be vulnerable and are more likely to struggle later on in life.

EDI Scores for 2018 are grouped into Service Delivery Areas (2017).

More information: Notes:
  1. Vulnerability was calculated using the Ontario Baseline cut-points.
  2. Records are aggregated to achieve anonymity
  3. Service Delivery Areas that have 15 or less responses are suppressed.
